API: Integration Demo

In computer programming, an application programming interface (API) is a set of subroutine definitions, communication protocols, and tools for building software. In general terms, it is a set of clearly defined methods of communication among various components. A good API makes it easier to develop a computer program by providing all the building blocks, which are then put together by the programmer. – Wikipedia

One of the most important features of the latest (3.0) version of our development platform is its API. Not only is our API easy and very simple to use (see video below), but it’s also automatically generated as you model your application.

Simply put, as you increase your web application’s complexity, the platform’s API will automatically keep up and mirror all your new developments, with zero effort. The concept can be referred to “API as a Service”, a topic will cover in depth in future posts.

To add to its simplicity, we’ve developed a very simple API Client generation process, that can be achieved in three simple steps:

1. Register your application and generate your credentials

2. Authenticate

3. Call the API

In case you need more details regarding the steps of this process, feel free to check our Documentation page about it.

API Integration Demo

This demonstration video requires the conclusion of the API Client registration process mentioned previously, and exemplifies how simple the calling of our API is. To demonstrate this, we used a previous web application as an example (see post). In this video you’ll be able to learn how to create a new Purchase Document in a Web Application, using Microsoft’s Visual Studio.
